1988 M109a3 Camping Expedition Overlanding RV camper Rig (Dual circuit brakes) m35a2 2.5 ton deuce

For sale 1988 AM GENERAL M109a3 W/W and M105a2 Trailer with Cargo Box Cover.

This listing includes the truck, trailer, and thousands of dollars in spare parts and tools. This is an ultra rare and unique setup. The truck alone is very rare in that it is one of the last years of the deuce and a half. It being a 1988 Airforce truck means that its one of a very few 2.5 ton trucks that came with the Dual circuit brake system (all others have the much less save single circuit system). 5-speed manual transmission with 2 speed transfer case. This is also a rare M109 Van body type, and has a winch. All of these together make this one of the rarest and most sought after “Deuces” ever made. Includes bins and bins of spare parts, tools, and camping gear. See below for highlights of the info and frequently asked questions.

TRUCK & TRAILER

Far much to list on this posting, but the truck is in excellent condition. Much of the build info can be found on the Steelsoldiers website you can find info on my build by searching “Peashooter’s M109A3 Camper Build Thread”. Everything has been gone through over the years and is in perfect working order.
The truck came out of the military (Air Force) in 2009 and sold to the first owner who I bought it from in 2011. I have had the vehicle ever since. I bought this to use and convert to a camping rig for my family of 4, it has served us well over the years especially as the kids were younger. Two people can sit in the front, and 2 in the box (all with seatbelts, and able to communicate with headsets to each other).

PREPPERS

-Multi-fuel, the truck can run off nearly any flamible liquid. Diesel is the preferred choice, but it can run on jet fuel, kerosene, gasoline, waste motor oil, veggie oil, etc

-The large MRAP tires have ~2” of tread, but if you happen to get a flat, the tires have runflats inside of them to keep the truck going until you can get to safety

-There are rebuilt Infra Red lights on the front of the truck (from an armored personnel carrier).

This truck is an “oldschool” mechanical diesel. An EMP will not prevent it from running. The only electrical needed is for the starter. The generator and microwave may be dead but the truck will be unaffected.

FAQ

License- a standard drivers license is all that is required to drive this truck since its under the 26,000 lb gvw.

Title, The truck is currently Titled in MN, the trailer is not titled, but I have the military SF57 form for it that will allow and individual to apply for a state title if needed.

Insurance- I have had this insured through one of the main major insurance companies. The cost for the truck and trailer insurance is roughly $300 per year for full coverage. I will give my policy info to the buyer so they can simplify the insurance application if they choose to stay with the same company.

Registration- This can be registered several ways depending on the state. I register it in MN as a collector vehicle since it only gets occasional use and mileage. Registration here was a 1 time fee of roughly $50.

MPG- I average 8-9mpg when pulling the trailer, and try to keep the speed around 55 on the highway.

Speed- Originally these trucks would redline at 56mph with stock tires. However with the larger tires (and stronger brakes to handle the additional speed), the truck can easily do 60 mph without getting close to red line. I’ve never gone faster than that so cant say what max redline speed would be.
