Military Truck. 1983 M915a1 Gov Refurb 2007. 400 Cummins, 5 SP Allison, with Jake Brake. Converted to 12v. Installed locker in RR axle, have another for FR. PTO and tank added with rear hydraulics. Used for short equipment moves and parades. Currently wearing an LMTV bed, also have the original Holland 5th wheel.
I purchased the vehicle from a dealer, Eastern Surplus in PA. From what I can gather from owning and working on it, there was an electrical issue with the 24v starter and the truck sat on a base in SC for a long time before it was auctioned off. I simply switched to a 12v starter, and she’s been spinning like a top since.
This is a 400 Cummins so it is Diesel Only. It is an Allison 5 speed automatic, not Caterpillar air shift. It is not a 6×6…It is a 6×4, with a power divider for rear axles. I have also installed a Detroit Locker in the rearmost locker.
